New Primal Scream track

This appears on the Primal Scream official website

PRIMAL SCREAM ARE BACK WITH THEIR 9TH STUDIO ALBUM - THEIR FIRST FOR B-UNIQUE RECORDS. THE RECORD, TITLED ’BEAUTIFUL FUTURE’, IS OUT JULY 21ST, AND FEATURES TRACKS PRODUCED BY, AMONGST OTHERS, BJORN YTTLING (PETER, BJORN AND JOHN] AND PAUL EPWORTH [BLOC PARTY].
THE ALBUM INCLUDES THE STORMING NEW SINGLE ‘CAN’T GO BACK’ – OUT JULY 14TH.

FEATURING GUEST COLLABORATIONS FROM LOVEFOXX OF CSS, JOSH HOMME OF QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE AND FOLK LEGEND LINDA THOMPSON, THE ALBUM IS AS DIVERSE AND BRILLIANT AS WE HAVE COME TO EXPECT FROM AN LP FROM THE LEGENDARY GROUP.

Despite those annoying capital letters, I'm excited about the collaborations (especially Linda Thompson) and this free track they have made available to download.

To these ears, their 'Street Fighting Man'. And they may even have reached a compromise between their dance and rock influences. Just, maybe...

And please leave feedback!

Hawkwind's great lost single, the timing of its release coincided with an early IRA bombing campaign and the label withdrew it after it had entered the midweek charts ... not a bad version :)

Bloody hell, that was quick! he he he...you may well be right. 'Bomb the Pentagon' anyone?

much better than their murdering of the 13th floor elevators cover they did, not as good as hawkwind's original but slightly better than mudhoney's crack at this ode to terrorism

ahhh...apparently everyone bar muggins knew it was a Hawkwind cover. Duh!

Did Mudhoney really cover this?

It's certainly 'timely' or unfortunate timing, depending on your point of view...

I'm sorry but this is absolutely dreadfull. Used to love the scream and bought all the singles up until Kill All Hippies on 12", to be honest the last 3 albums have been bought with no real excitement and have been played maybe 3 or 4 times each, I fear on the back of this track more of the same. However I will buy the album and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

This is going down badly!

Still feel the last high Scream point was probably XTRMNTR which I now realise was eight years ago. That said, have enjoyed bits of the last two albums, and they have produced some amazing stuff over the last...23 years.

BTW does anyone have 'It Happens' the track that was (I think) b-side to 'All Fall Down' and made no.44 in the 1985 Festive Fifty?

Thanks, if you can, get in touch via the usual email.

Sorry Ed, mine's only go back as far as Gentle Tuesday, should have mentioned that. I agree that there have been some good tracks on the last 2 albums just no great ones with the exception of Sometimes I Get So Lonely.
Nothing that has made me play it over and over again for a week to the exclusion of everything else as Loaded did when I first bought it.

I did have It Happens, but upon checking something weird has happened to it and it now stops at 42 seconds. Grr! I'll see if I can't dig up another copy from somewhere.
