Happy Birthday Dad!

In April it was my Mum, in May my darling Mrs. 17 Seconds and today it's my dad's Birthday. So happy birthday dad, here's some for you.

My Da's a legend, he's encouraged music-making and writing and has alsways been very encouraging of this blog.

For car trips -Abba 'The Winner Takes It All.'

...and Pet Shop Boys 'It's a sin'

For your university days Procul Harum 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale'

...and Animals 'House Of the Rising Sun'

And finally the track that got me into music originally: The Beatles' 'Hard Day's Night'

Have a good 'un, Da.

Best wishes, Ed's dad! mine would have been 78 this year. Many happy returns!
First Beatles album I bought...can you guess what it was?

...please NOT sgt. Pepper, the most over-rated thing in the entire cannon of music. Revolver is my favourite LP ever!

Yup, for £2.19 in Smiths. The Whie Album would be my choice, but it would be a boring world if we were all the same, wouldn't it? ;-))
BTW, sorry I haven't phoned you recently: what with changing my job I've had a lot on my plate, but I've got a long weekend coming up, so stand by the receiver!!

funnily enough, my first music purchases were from Smiths: Top Gun OST, Housemartins' Caravan of Love and Now 8 (the latter the only one I bought in the entire series). Oh 1986, such a long time ago. Smiths and woolies seemed to be fine for buying music in for a ten year old, I find them depressing now...

Woolies used to be great. You could get a bag full of 7" singles for 5p sometimes. They were mostly rubbish ones, but there was always at least one good one in there too.

I like the way that 7"s have come back in the last few years, not that I ever stopped buying them, but given the choice between 7" and CD single, I definitely still pick the 7".
