An announcement

*deep breath*

It's been a hellish few days.

But I've been very touched by the support I've received from readers, friends, fellow bloggers and family. Most particularly my long-suffering wife.

I'm still trying to work out the future. But I wanted to say thanks (and watch this space).

In the words of Vigo from Ghostbusters 2 (above):

'Death is but a door, time is but a window. I'll be back.'

Crass -'Do They Owe Us A Living?' mp3

Ex Lion Tamer -'Life Support Machine.' mp3

Just echoing the noises of support from the previous post and reiterating the southfield cowboys comment - hang in there.

You know, here in Canada the avenues open to bands to promote their music are dwindling day by day. Some of the best tv programs, such as The New Music, are being cancelled and programs such as Much Music and Much More Music are being scaled back. This is due to the purchase of one TV station by another. The entertainment news programs have been cut. Some of the people have worked there for 30 yrs and are now out of jobs. These are people I know. Publicists I know are pulling their hair out. All this is a long-winded way of saying how important music blogs are and how much more important they will become as tools for publicists to promote the music they love.

You are right, the RIAA does not represent anyone but themselves. They have no interest in the music or the bands even though they say they are protecting them. The industry needs to understand that music is now free no matter how much that hurts. They need to find a way of making it better than free while still making money. I have ideas on that but I won't go into them here as this comment is getting long enough.

Anyway, don't give up, Ed. These cowardly shits are digging the hole they will eventually bury themselves in.

mate, I totally understand your reaction to the petty minded actions of these individuals. Before you sign off I would like to say that over the last year or more I have enjoyed your blog tremendously and will be sad when there are no new posts show in the feed.

Enjoy the rest, Dearest Ed. We'll be here when you return.

P.S. May I suggest that a gentle nighttime moisturizing routine might work wonders for your complexion? But I think the leather harness looks very virile... :)

Am investigating ways of going forward. There will be a post for my albums of the year, to tidy things up. Then I'll try and work out what to do about surfacing elsewhere. Blogger are currently no.3 behind the DMCA and RIAA of things that get on my nerves...

Ed, It would OK for me to read you without having MP3... In fact you're my best way to practice my English !!!

Somewhat ironically (but nonetheless welcome), I received an email of thanks from Doug Keith today for daring to post an mp3 of his (which he had given me full permission to do) on my main page in IWICBCE.
See? Sometimes it's worth it ;-)).
Mind you, I know what you mean about Blogger. My quick edit icon disappeared from the same blog when I changed my template, and I'm still waiting for them to put it back.

Jalal - as a teacher, that is a real compliment. Don't forget to read Steve's blogs - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday and Teenage Kicks; he is an english teacher therefore his blogs have less mistakes!

Steve/So It Goes - there are musicians out there, as well as PR people and even record companies who do appreciate what we are doing. I will investiagte other places to host -Matthew from sng, By Toad rang me the other day to encourage me and tell me not to quit and said he'd come round to 17 Seconds Towers to help me move stuff.

Sometimes i think the mp3 blogging world is socialism is action... : )

Hi Ed, great to hear you intend to keep fighting the good fight despite the best efforts of the corporate fascists. I've only discovered your blog recently but I'm glad I did. It would be a shame if you were bullied out of doing something you're clearly passionate about

Thanks folks...keep it tuned to 17 Seconds, eh?

Many thanks for all your support.
