Countdown to Christmas #13

OK, very brief post: I know I have already featured the Wedding Present this year, but I have just come back from seeing them at the Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh, and as Mrs. 17 Seconds said, they were even better than last time.

...and I met David Gedge! The man himself was selling the tees at the merch stall, and I managed to not make too much of an idiot of myself, I think, and told him that this blog had nominated 'The Trouble With Men' as the top of the Festive Fifty. He also said that Watusi may get re-issued next year, as he himself has burned CD-Rs of it for fans.

Anyway, the Weddoes' 1992 Christmas single:

Wedding Present -'No Christmas.' mp3

Wedding Present -'Step Into Christmas.' mp3

Did you ask him if he'd got the Festive 50 pulled? ;)

Been ages since I've seen the Weddos, their Glasgow gigs always clash with something or other.

Jim -I didn't ask him; to be honest, I think it's not his style. I will not be posting Elton John (after what happened to JC The Vinyl Villain), Glasvegas (after what happened to me) or Prince (after what has happened in many places apparently.

SW - You missed seeing the Weddoes?!?! This was Friday night. For shame, for shame!

Another one to avoid posting is The Fratellis btw, I got a post pulled from Aye Tunes that featured them.

Will bear that in mind, thank you!

Let's pot a list of artists to avoid, shall we? I'll add the Beatles (unless you're crafty about it), Van Morrison (unless you're REALLY crafty), UB40 (after what happened to Adam at FiS, and the White Stripes (after what happened to John Peel...oh yes).

Beatles, Van Morrison, UB40 (not that there's much post 1983 of there's I'd want to listen to!), Glasvegas, the Fratellis, Elton John, Prince...anyone else wanna add to this list, of artists who either don't stop their record companies screwing bloggers over, or are complete idiots anyway?

I've heard Mogwai were a bit funny about stuff being posted round about the time of the new album, not sure if they still are. Chemikal Underground have always been great with me.
Feargal Sharkey hates the internet, of course.
I'll ask around and find out if there's any others to be wary of.

The only Mogwai track I have posted off the new album is 'The Sun Smells Too Loud' which was available as a free download from the Matador website. Think there's going to have to be a lot of treading very, very carefully over the next wee while...
