I'm nearly on holiday!

One day to go...much as i love my job, I can't wait for the break.

So, first up, there is discussion as to which Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Chile/Voodoo Child was no.16 in the inaugural Festive Fifty, so here is the other one. I have been in contact with Steve at Teenage Kicks, he reckons it was this one.

Jimi Hendrix - 'Voodoo Child (Slight Return).' mp3 (1976 Festive Fifty no.16...possibly!)

Meanwhile, the first reggae superstar had only one entry, but it was a classic.

Bob Marley and the Wailers -'No Woman, No Cry.' mp3 (1976 Festive Fifty no.32)

Not so , Eduardo The Godlike...'Waiting In Vain' was no. 32 in 1977.
In fact, that chart features more reggae than in any other year: seven songs in all.

Duh...blind as a bat, as ever.

Given that 1977 was the only year when all the entries were chosen by Peel himself, we can only imagine what they would have looked like in other years had he also chosen them. He did say that they would have been about 250 songs long, and I can sympathise with that...

I'm doing a '76 year-specific festive fifty on FiS and may well tackle '77 next year.

Don't forget to vote...
